LOL... I've long felt that way largely for the same reasons he mentions... Colombus discovering America did not bode well for the Native Americans. Nor has most any new discovery usually done well for those who were "discovered".
The issue in my mind is that if they are at all unfriendly, they'll have much better technology than we do (since they managed to get through space from their place to ours).
