Glad to hear you enjoyed Ancillary Justice (I... still need to go back and read the sequels finally, but the worldbuilding is heavy-duty enough that I need to have the brainspace for it, I guess), and hope Uprooted ends up working for you.

There were super cute with the whiskers, running up the down the branches. Well, one was running, the other was chilling.
Brainspace for world-building is a good word for it. I do find that with sci-fi I have to put a bit more effort sometimes to really be inside the world. But worth it, of course.

That can be so frustrating, sometimes I think an author can set it up that way, try and make you think or feel a certain way towards that character, but sometimes it is just too simple

Part of it, I think, is because the main character is a 17 year old girl and she can be a little naive, not think things through. I have to see if this keeps bugging me. The book is interesting enough to keep me engaged so far despite this. So we'll see.

Also, I miss Brooklyn so much. We lived in Bay Ridge and I liked just being able to walk around and go places, without having to drive. We only moved to Jersey a couple of months ago and I already miss it a ton!!
