[Hello, new world. Sanosuke has tossed his journal aside, deeming it useless--in this case, meaning "he doesn't have a clue how to use it, and he certainly can't eat it." Unbeknown to him, this has activated the voice function.]

Just what's going on? [There's a pause, then a rather startled shout. Someone has just discovered his wings! And he ( Read more... )

I'm afraid it's not a dream~

You've been brought to Luceti. Do you see a book nearby? I suggest you keep that with you.

[There is a long pause, because not only does he see the book, Sanosuke hears the book. This doesn't help the book's argument, but he does pick it up.]

A talking book is trying to tell me this isn't a dream? Do I look like an idiot to you?

[And now he can see Sano, so he waves and laughs.]

I thought it was a talking book at first, too. It's some kind of 'technology' which I think is just magic, but the others here tell me I just don't understand. Anyway, this is how people communicate here. It's like writing letters or talking face to face, but with people all over the place instead of just those right next to you. Handy, huh?

[...Is that a person in the book?

Oh shit, that is a person.

In the book.

Suddenly this dream went to a whole new level of weird, and Sanosuke will once again be dropping the book, and possibly backpedaling several steps away. At least until he can find a stick or something to poke at the book with.]

I don't give a fuck what it is. How the hell did they trap somebody in a book?

[Yeah, he's kind of missing the point. Sanosuke does hear the words, at least, which keeps him from abandoning the thing completely. He'll just maintain a safe distance, just in case, you know. The book tries to eat him.]

You've got a messed up definition of handy, Demon Book. I think I'll stick to carrier pidgins, thanks.

[Why is the book still talking? And now with a different voice.]

My fortune? Sorry, I don't go for that sort of stuff.

That's okay. I'll tell you anyway.

You're going to spend the next while confused and possibly questioning your own existence.

No shit I'm confused. You going to tell me the grass is green, next?

Well, yeah. Who wouldn't?

[Sanosuke is at least getting a bit more used to the talking book thing by this point. Progress?]

What else could it be?

Calm down--I hate to say it, but it's not a dream.

[Sanosuke and calm--yeah, he'll get right on that.]

Like hell I'm going to calm down! I've got wings on my back, and a bunch of book people telling me that this is supposed to be real. I'm supposed to be headed to Shanghai, not in some messed up fairy tale land.

Well guess what? You got Shanghaied into fairy tale land.

No kidding. Like I said, that's not a good reason to calm down!

You really should watch your language.

I care about what is broadcasted for my little sister to hear.

Re: voice; bearingevil November 5 2010, 00:28:35 UTC
Well, guess what? I wasn't expecting a demon book to broadcast my every word to I don't even know how many other demon books, all right?

Besides, it's not like you can keep the whole world from cursing. Your sister's going to have to grow up and deal with it sometime.
