Just short of 63...

In this COVID-tainted age, I have probably as good a motivation as I'll ever have to get back to posting on LiveJournal - taking advantage of this "longer-form" medium, as opposed to the briefer thumbnails of Facebook or the slivers of Twitter.

My last post, from 2014, talked a little bit about Tyler Hayes, the lover who was with me for a short ( Read more... )

I think there's also a generational difference - you may actually not be as old as he was at this age.

Chip, thanks for sharing this story of Tyler. You've never mentioned him to me, but who of us speaks of relationships from 30 years ago. My longest relationship was only 3.5 years, so when you mentioned it lasted four years and that was a short relationship for you, it gave me pause. I always wondered how you came to have the condo in Palm Springs!

I know exactly what you mean about 63 ... I see photos of my grandparents at my age and it was a different "old". How can I be 66 when I don't feel more than 36 years old inside? You've known me now for going on 16 years. When I look at you, I simply see my cherished friend, not age.

I've been steady here on Live Journal. My most recent post is two days ago. You'll find a whole new crowd here if you stick around ... and I hope you do! HUGS!

Welcome back to LJ! I didn't realize you had lived in Utah. May you have many long years ahead of you!

I thought you knew -- it was way back in the late '70s and '80s. BYU and the whole shebang. But then we never really had much time to just chat when I was staying at your place -- either you were gone or I was! Anyway, thanks... I hope you and A. are safe and healthy!

I've had a few of those "I'm the same age as so and so was when we met" moments, they are always fascinating and eye opening for me. As I get older there seem to be less of those ages to hit though LOL The ones that trip me out the most are ones like realizing I'm older than my grandparents were when I was born, and the realization that they weren't nearly as old as I thought, but also that I'm not nearly as old as they were at the same age. 50... 55... 63... nowadays these ages are very different than they once were!
