According to the prediction cone, it might make a bee line for Texas. Someone said its possible it might be right over New Orleans as a Cat. 3 or 4 the day McCain accepts the nomination.

Last night, they ran a computer model called VIPIR and it had the storm going over Cuba Friday and into Florida's Gulf coast on Saturday/Sunday.

Still plenty of time to watch and see. As it is, it's slowed down its forward motion(4 mph compared to 10 mph when it was going over Haiti). Gov. Jindal might have to cancel his speech at the RNC the day before McCain's acceptance, if the storm does threaten the state.
