Is there such a thing as democracy points?

Because if there is, I totally earned some today. I thought I was doing well when I encouraged my poetry students to register, but I know I really earned some when I took some voter registration forms from the people who were literally swarming all over campus and brought them in to my class and...registered three students! Good job, Liz! When I volunteered for Planned Parenthood at the county fair in August, I was way prouder about getting people to vote than getting them to sign my petition. Although the one guy who went and harassed the people at the Bush/Cheney campaign table was pretty awesome too. ("So then I asked them how Bush can call himself 'pro-life' if he keeps starting wars and getting little Iraqi children killed, and they couldn't give me an answer, and so now I'm back to sign your petition.") My voter registration card finally came in the mail yesterday, so I'm feeling relieved and enfranchised and whatnot.
