Stargate Reboot

Sep 08, 2013 17:48

Roland Emmerich wants to do a Stargate Trilogy.  Um.....

Nope.

(Unless I can get back Sam and Teal'c and Cam and Vala too...)

((Am the only flashing to the dreaded teenage SG1 version from "200"?)

No, you are not the only one flashing to that. Worse, for me anyway, would be his vision of Stargate, without any of the humor that I have come to expect from SG-1.

I just think that I have too much heart invested in SG-1 to really be able to get into Emmerich's vision of the franchise. I've no doubt it will be slick and that there will be a sector of fandom out there that loves it immensely because it does away with all the less-than-reverential aspects that the TV version added, but I am not at all sure that I'll bother to go see it.

Of course if I don't, I won't have a right to complain, so I might have to go anyway, at least for the first one.

As long as he's just screwing with the movie, which seems to be what he's suggesting, I really don't care. The movie is kind of an AU to me anyway (even though I saw it first). He must be hard up for ideas.

Next up: M. Night Shyamalan reboots The Sixth Sense!

Exactly!

I mean, SG-1 was already a total reboot of the movie. So this'll just be a different reboot and won't likely have anything to do with the franchise we love.

Hehehe. He's only been talking about that for 20 years.

I don't rate his chances.

He's just bitter the TV show was better loved...

no doubt true.

wasn't there a lawsuit (or talk of one) when SG-1 was in the planning stages because he wanted to do two more movies?
i hear the script for the second one was reworked into independence day.

Considering Devlin continues to float continuing Stargate with Spader himself, I'm not futzed about it yet.

Also hi!!!!

I think I'm more amused than anything--and I really don't see how such a reboot could be a threat to SG-1... it just wouldn't be My Team.
