Today my room got cleaned out a bit *gasp*, because a whole bunch of crap old schoolwork is being tossed out, and what did I uncover? "The Kid", by Dan Savage.
It's so true. I found myself nodding a LOT with his rememberances. He's a kid I would've sat next to at morning mass and probably been punished with afterwards. *laugh* And everything I learned about homoerotic aesthetics I picked up first through my Catholic upbringing. There's only so many "Martyrdom of St. Sebastian" paintings a guy can look at before he starts to get thoughts, y'know? *grin* I liked "the Kid" a lot. It's one of the more honest takes on parenthood out there today.
And I'm glad you like Dan Savage...it really bothers me when people diss him, 'cuz he taught me (nearly) everything I always wanted to know about sex, but was afraid to ask.
