I don't have a lot of time or energy to go into much detail on this, but I have a diagnosis. I was going to wait until Dr. Y had written up her report and everything, but apparently there's no need, because she told me Tuesday what diagnosis she's going to put on it, and that it's unchangeable at this point:

Hold on, that's a symptom of adhd? (I'm referring to asking people to repeat themselves) I thought I just couldn't hear every once and awhile, like it was just out of wack for a few seconds. I didn't think...is it cause you always have something running through your brain and you stop concentrating but you think you are and then you aren't...that's whole sentences, but I know what you're saying...sometimes when you try and pay attention and it just messes up so you have to try and figure it out...happens all the time.

Not necessarily. Basically, it's an issue with auditory processing, which is common in ADD people...but it's also a thing in and of itself: Central Auditory Processing Disorder.

I think of it as...hearing dyslexia. I don't think mine's bad enough for a CAPD diagnosis, though, it's just annoying.

sad when people try to protect you from, basically, yourself, not realizing that knowing about yourself is key to maintaining any sense of real identity.
