Paging through BOYS' LIFE, Part 2: Arthur C. Clarke's "The Sunjammer"

Google has now scanned in my all-time favorite issue of Boys' Life, namely March 1964.

We were deep into the Space Age, racing the Russians to the Moon. Mercury was over; Gemini was about to begin.

Saw a longer version of "Sunjammer" in Analog in the mid-'60s. The concept stayed with me ever since. Thanks as always for a meticulously researched post and a trip back to the solar system I came from. ;-)

You're thinking of a different story.

Googling:"The Wind from the Sun" was called "Sunjammer" when it was first published, in Boys' Life. By one of those strange coincidences that often occur in literature[...], Poul Anderson used the same title, almost simultaneously.
In collections, Clarke renamed his story "The Wind from the Sun" to alleviate confusion.

I read this story when I was a cub scout and it has stuck with me all through the years. I never realized until now that it was Arthur C Clarke's work. No wonder the story was so good, no wonder he went on to become a household name!
