This time of year, the Christmas music starts invading my head. And I get to thinking about it. I'm not the only one.

Last year, I learned of a wonderful set of essays by Tris McCall, a New Jersey rock critic, reviewing fifty holiday songs.

These are great! Thanks for the link. Did I ever give you the lyrics to my own personal Christmas carol, "Angels We Have Fed on Pie"?

We had 7 of them for our Thanksgiving feast, 1 apple, 1 apple-blueberry, 1 rum raisin, 2 pumpkin and 2 sweet potato. We were going to make pecan and cherry too, but decided 7 was enough--it wasn't the 7 of us finished them in 3 days.

I want the words to your song! I love folk/filk music. Can I sing them at church?

"Can I sing them at church?"

I think that would probably depend on your church ;) I've posted the lyrics over in my journal. Hope you enjoy them!

I've gone through the list, and find many points of agreement, though I think I'm fonder of Meredith Willson and Mr. Pierpont's work than the critic. I'm sorry to see "Birthday of a King" not considered -- I'd like to see what McCall makes of it ( ... )
