Well, would you have a hard time with him showing concern if he wasn't a hook-up friend? Like, is the source of the problem wanting to keep sentiment and hook-up separate, lest you get confused?

That's totally it. If this were one of the boys, I'd be cool with this. I don't know if I can handle the sentiment, or even worse what the sentiment might mean.
