Dear David,

I hate you.

I was perfectly content with not purchasing the Doctor Who specials boxset, but then you had to write to most adorkable self-insert RPF known to man for it. Also, it seems that you know the weakness I have for anything you do with Catherine Tate and your video diaries has the only know footage of your first Radio 2 hosting

I know! If the extras were only a general retrospective of DT's run as the Doctor (like the S4 extras were) I could easily have passed on this set.

Were they? That doesn't seem right. It's like, "this guy is leaving in a year and a half. And now, a look back at 2/3 of his time with the show."

Though I heard a theory about how JE may have been written to introduce Eleven and exit Ten, then changed when he didn't leave right away, which made it sound much better written than it actually was. I suppose a premature retrospective supports that theory.

I could possibly be wrong (I only watched it once) but, as far as I can remember, the only real extra (aside from Time Crash) on the set was a featurette that looked back on the Tennant era. I'm not sure if it's a holdover from the "Is Tennant staying or leaving?" drama or if was more, "David didn't film hours of video diaries this year, quick, we need something as filler!" (Why couldn't they have slipped in some of Noel Clarke's video diaries?!)

the commentary is great and the video diary bit with Catherine is just plain awesome :D She dances hahaha So does he hahahaha! Hope you get it soon :)

I'm probably going to wait a bit for a really good sale because as much as I love Catherine and David together, unless the entire Radio 2 experience was committed to film and offered up in this boxset, I'm not paying full price for just the extras, 'cause I'm definitely not buying it for the episodes.

David Tennant and Catherine Tate, continually causing fangirls to part with their hard earned cash ;) ('Cause when it came down to it, I went with buying the S3 set because of Catherine and TRB over the S2 set with GitF and Sophia Myles being adorably clueless when it comes to Daleks.)

So little cash, so much to buy! Argh! I'm totally holding out for a mega sale though. I got an insanely good deal for the S4 set and The Infinite Quest, so I'm clinging to my cash a little longer. If I had liked the specials a bit more, it would be a whole other story!

If you happen to have a region-free DVD player or can make your DVD drive region free, be sure to check out UK sites as well. Despite the rather poor exchange rate I snagged a brand new (non-bootleg) region 2 S3 set off Ebay UK for around $30 shipped!
