Writer's block: My favorite quotation and my personal motto

Feb 21, 2009 23:18

My favorite quotation: "I'm not going to change the way I look or the way I feel to conform to anything. I've always been a freak. So I've been a freak all my life and I have to live with that, you know. I'm one of those people." - John Lennon

My personal motto: Dum spiro, spero. This is a quote by Cicero, "As long as I breath, I have hope."

I'm familiar with the first quote (of course!) and (as is pretty much usual with Lennon) it's so ... pretty *pets quote*.

But your personal motto? It's just so much better. I think that exactly that is what life's all about - hope - as without it you're left nowhere, in some dark, DARK place nobody ever wants to end up.

I'm probably going to Germany this summer! I will be staying with my cousin Julia, who is studying there at University. She is staying in the mountains, near to the border of France and also, I think, Switzerland. I do not know how close that is to Ruhrgebiet, (close-ish, I think? but I wanted to tell you regardless.

Thanks for letting me know!
Mountains, near Switzerland...that sounds like about 6 hours away from the Ruhrgebiet. This must be Baden-Württemberg..here is the wikipedia info to it: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baden_W%C3%BCrttemberg The part of my country you will visit, is highlighted in dark green...just to let you compare, this is where I live:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lower_Saxony (in the north of that state)
My whole country looks like this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/States_of_Germany

so...you will be about 6 hours or more by car away from my hometown.
You will like Baden Würtemberg...but you might have problems when they speak lol...because their German dialect isn't even understood by German people sometimes!

My personal motto too - it's one of the few quotes I have up on Facebook! ( I only have 4 or 5, and all of them but one are by John)
