I keep starting to work on a all-one-document version and then I keep writing bits to be inserted all over the place. Er. Sorry?

Several people have asked if I could clarify the timeline, since the story jumps around a lot. I know my preference is for the as-published order or jumping, because I like the way you learn things slowly, but it can get a little confusing.
