+ Lass wrote more Narnia Durkheim fic, which is naturally awesome. Forms & Foundations. Susan & Edmund. This world tells her, You are Susan Pevensie, a whole equal to the sum of her parts, and she wonders what that entails.

+ I have bad circulation, too. WE MUST BE TWINSES. But since I actually live in a cold place it's kind of a problem.

+ Don't worry about the PSATs, they are really not that important. Colleges are going to care a lot more about your grades and whether you have "defined interests" and your real SAT scores and bullshit like that.

+ I love "The Captain and the Hourglass." On of my favorite Laura Marling songs, at the moment.

+ Go here and listen to their cover of "Everybody Wants to Rule the World," you might like it.

oucchhh, I can only imagine if I lived someplace that was actually cold. *shivers*

I mean, theoretically I know these things, but my brain refuses to accept that this is true.

oh, hey! that's a cool song. thanks!

+ Bad circulation, I may possibly have! I get cold feet/hands really easily, and when I went skiing I was always having to like un-thaw my hands on the lifts (aka move them so they wouldn't freeze into a holding-poles-position).

+ I wouldn't worry too much about the PSAT, bb. As long as you tried your best, and besides, I'm pretty sure colleges are looking for unique people more than people with the stereotypical good grades, all AP classes, etc.

+ I need to check out this Laura Marling song! And yay, Citadel and Vienna Teng!

it is terribly annoying! *scowl* at least we can be comrades in discomfort. grr.

I mean, I know I shouldn't worry about it. but my brain isn't precisely listening to me in this matter. ergh.

it's really pretty! MUSICCCC.

Don't worry about National Merit! Rare are the people who get it and many many more people go to college than even get a National Merit nod. And it is so possible to go to those places without pulling a ton of scholarship strings, and even if you get National Merit you'd probably have to find and pull those strings anyway - believe me, colleges don't care *that* much about how you perform on the PSAT as a junior. Grades and essays are becoming far, far, far more important than standardized tests.

Are you really planning on taking a gap year after high school? to do what?

thanks, bb! I'm trying to force my brain to be rational about this, and it isn't working so fantasticly. :P

yup! I know a few people who think they got more out of college coming in later, and besides, it's the perfect time to travel Europe for a bit. I want to try to get a job as a nanny in Europe for a year or two, or maybe two different jobs, so that I get to live in a different country for a while. I'll be almost 20 and I've been taking care of kids since I was... 12? yeah. I like kids a lot, and I'm pretty good at taking care of them.

being a nanny or an au pair sounds like it'd be awesome. and you're experienced with that, too :) definitely take advantage of that opportunity to travel and see parts of the world! some schools ask for like a justification of time taken off between high school and college.
