I started out with purely MCU Clint, never having read a Marvel comic until I got totally obsessed. When I started reading Fraction/Aja Hawkeye, I was at first appalled at the slightly sad-sackishness, but that changed when a friend urged me to buy the back issues and I got to the two with the tape. And lo! I realized there was actual depth to the character, and I became hooked. By Issue #19 I was gone, baby, gone. The Edmunson/Noto Natasha I adored from the start. So my Clint and Natasha kind of ... morphed a little. By now I think they're total mash-ups.

Except when I write Clint with Laura, then he's straight MCU, and when I write him with Kate, he's straight-up Fraction. Does that make sense?

As for Civil War consequences... I fear that Tony's slip of the tongue in the Raft jail spells the end of Clint's family, as it did in Ultimates -- and we will see him go full on Ronin by Avengers 4. :(

I started as MCU only. Wasn't gonna touch those comics or tv cartoons or anything else. But well, they are invasive and the more I read fic and stayed on tumblr, the more those things just kind of... invaded. And confession time, I still have not read any actual comics; I've just seen so many panels and plotlines that it feels like I have.

Anyhow... pick and choose what you like and mash them up into the kind of convergent whole - THAT. SO MUCH THAT.

Not read any actual comics?? How can I make you ... If you read no others, do acquire the collections of the Fraction/Aja series - it's out in hardcover on amazon. You won't regret it!

I just lost any tiny amount of credibility I might have had, didn't I? ;)

Oh, no - it took me eons as well. The only way you can lose credibility with me is if you emerge from reading Fraction Hawkeye muttering the words, "well, THAT sucked". ;-)

PICK AND CHOOSE. *pompoms*

Seriously though, Clint is more 616 and Natasha is more MCU - but then sometimes I miss pre-AoU Clint and go for stoic competent Clint, sometimes he's a disaster even more than in Fraction's run. Natasha is more stable to be honest, mostly because I fucking hate how she's currently written in her solo comics. This Batman I-must-do-it-alone bullshit drives me up the wall.

I'm behind on Occupy but I've loved what I read! But yeah, so happy that Natasha run is ending soon. So sick of that. I want a lady writing her next. Maybe she'll be better then.

Fraction Clint is the one I love the most, for some reason I just really like with the drinking-coffee-straight-out-of-the-pot/depressed/human disaster of an Avenger and how he still manages to get stuff done. although I do kinda like the snippy MCU version, make him deaf ffs!
