Day 1
"Ohhh," Darcy says, excited, on her first day at the New Mexico unit. To contextualize this statement, we must step back: Darcy doesn't really have anything to be doing yet; won't have anything to be doing until her new boss (the G-man, Agent Phillip J. Coulson himself) comes back from some emergency meeting in New York City (probably having to do with the monsters who duked it out. Or the robots. She's pretty sure Tony Stark's drunk hallucinations have officially crossed into reality). So she's fallen back, like all good ex-interns (that is, all ex-interns who've survived to being current-other-things), on making sure anyone she might need favors from later is properly supplied with coffee from the staff room. Delivering coffee means she ends up at the mail room, and at the mail room there's a small little package neatly inscribed

PEOPLE, THIS IS AN EMERGENCY ANNOUCNEMENT: READ THIS FIC. Don't be put of by it containing lots of Darcy, because you will love this Darcy. Don't be put off by no on-screen Clint and Natasha sexy times, because you'll find out so much about them individually and as a couple. Don't sigh when you come across the original characters, because they are well-written and hilarious. Please don't put this fic to one side because you don't think that it's the usual Clint/Natasha fare and maybe you'll read it later. It isn't the usual Clint/Natasha fare, but it is is hilarious, sweet, funny, touching, brilliant, clever, heart-aching, romantic, well-crafted, full of feels, and made of wonderful. Show it some love, because when you read it you'll want to :D

Seconding! I tend not to read fics focusing on Darcy because the ones I did read seemed to use Darcy as a means of providing bad puns and pop culture references to the bewildered Avengers, but this is an excellent fic.

Wow, okay, there are a lot of Darcy fics were her job is to educate Steve, her being a political scientist and all, but some of those can be great and she can be so much mofre than that too. As evidenced, heh. This Darcy appreciation post has some good recs, and I'd also rec Talking Trash and Wasting Time by musefool (PG) and this series by waketosleep (teen and up).
