Because it's something of an accomplishment for me to have actually seen more than ten films released in 2009, my top-ten list will include only these such movies (with one exception, and I'll explain that when I get there).

That said, I finally caught up on a bunch of older movies this year and would recommend, without reservations, The Lives of ( Read more... )

Have you seen THE THICK OF IT? Ryvre & I just caught up in time for the most recent series; it's stunningly good. I'd throw it at you, but I assume you don't have a region-free DVD player.

Also, I got a kick out of finding out that "scripts are sent to a "swearing consultant" in Lancaster called Ian Martin, who adds some of the series' more colourful language." :D

Bring Sita Home in for the New Year! anonymous January 6 2010, 22:36:53 UTC
Bring Sita home with a DVD of
SITA SINGS THE BLUES

Buy on Amazon: http://amzn.com/B002G50002
Rent on Netflix: http://tinyurl.com/ybbqd7b

Sita is a goddess separated from her beloved Lord and husband Rama. Nina is an animator whose husband moves to India, then dumps her by email. Three hilarious shadow puppets narrate both ancient tragedy and modern comedy in this beautifully animated interpretation of the Indian epic Ramayana. Set to the 1920's jazz vocals of Annette Hanshaw, Sita Sings the Blues earns its tagline as "the Greatest Break-Up Story Ever Told."

I'm surprised to not see Pixar's "Up" on this list! Is it because you didn't like it or haven't seen it yet?

Not that you didn't have enough animated films :)

This list always inspires me to see movies I hadn't planned on seeing before.

Blindness last year...I tried and tried to finish, but it was too disturbing. But I still liked it? Does that make any sense.

Anyways, thanks for sharing.

Up came in at #8!

I just re-watched it yesterday, and think I undervalued it.

Hahaha!!

I always make fun of people who skip whole paragraphs in my emails and respond and ask questions I have already answered...

serves me right, I can't believe I missed that!!

Glad you liked it :) Sorry for COMPLETELY missing that!
