I went shopping last week, so I wasn't planning on going anywhere this week. It's quite nice that Jeffrey can pick up milk, or whatever else we need, in between my regular shopping trips. My reasoning is that, if he's already out, why should I have to make a special trip just to pick up one or two things? He's got several stores close to work or on his way home, so it's not even out of his way.
Cory has a couple birthday parties he's going to in the next couple of days, so he needed to go to Walmart so he could buy birthday presents. Since there was no school today, I said I'd take him today. Then, since I had to go out anyway, I thought I might as well run by Pick 'n Save, too and get some stuff that is on sale this week. So this morning I started putting a list together. When I was shopping last week, I got several check out coupons for money off my next shopping trip. The frustrating part is that they are like $3 off a $65 purchase or $9 off a $90 purchase - and they expire two weeks from the first purchase. It's like the more you spend the first time, the more you get to save the next time, but only if you spend even more money. Spend $10-$24.99, get $3 off $30 - Spend $25-$39.99, get $5 off $50 - Spend $40-$54.99, get $7 off $70 - Spend $55-$74.99, get $9 off $90, etc. The problem is, if I already spent enough to get that $9 coupon, I am most likely never going to get close to spending $90 in the next couple of weeks so that I can use the coupon that I supposedly earned. Now, if they gave me a coupon that said I get 10% off of my next order up to a savings of $9, then I could actually use that coupon. The way it is, it's like they gave me free money that I cannot use. I bet they planned it that way.
Anyway, as I was making my list, I realized that next Wednesday is double coupon day at Pick 'n Save. The same things that I wanted to grab today will still be on sale, but my coupons will be worth twice as much. And, by then maybe I will need a few more things so I will actually be able to use at least one of these extra savings coupons. I have one for $2 off a $20 produce purchase and one for $3 off a $30 purchase. So, I'm going shopping next Wednesday. You know what that means. I'm actually leaving my house three weeks in a row.
