Yesterday, I went to see the world premiere of Subaru's movie Misono Universe (international title: La La La at Rock Bottom) and his live concert in Rotterdam with some friends. Here's what happened. I'll be adding links to materials as I find them; bits and pieces fancams of the screening and concert in the text, additional coverage and full-

I also liked that you tried at best to give an unbiased one and kept attention to the regular attendant of the fest to asses that Subaru gave a great impression.
I'm blewn away by the fancams because as it was a smallish place the sound is amazing and I'm sure the real thing was mind-blowing.
Again, thanks!

I tried to be objective, but now that I've seen fancams I think I was too pessimistic about the audience. In that fancam of Piano Man I linked in the post it seems they were really hyped, fans and not-fans alike. But that's the good kind of error, I'm super happy to hear that it was a great success even for the casual Dutch guests!

Even more thanks for telling me who's who in Takoyaki All Stars!
I know they've been with K8 for a while, but I had no idea who's who and their roles, so thanks a lot.
I'm not sure about the J&A link. IMO this was mainly director Yamashita's venture, and since the movie is very music-based, Subaru/the director took the chance to also showcase Subaru live. Maybe, idk.
Glad to know that the general audience was wowed by Subaru's singing as well :D
Love your comments about Subaru's professionalism and quality of his singing and the band!

I was surprised myself when I took a closer look at the band and realized they're actually very involved in recording, arranging and even writing for Kanjani. And they've stayed with Kanjani through the label change, so I guess they think Kanjani and the Takoyaki All Stars are good together.
Listening to the Piano Man fancam I linked in the text, I think I was far too pessimistic. Sitting in the front and next to fans, I assumed most of the good feelings came from them. I didn't check, I was more occupied with what happened on stage. Turns out the entire audience was totally hyped. :D
Calling it as I see it. I've been to enough amateur and semi-pro concerts to know both how bad and how good it can be. This concert was executed by people who knew what they were doing.

But I only knew of the most prominent ones, I don't know about the rest of the band.
I wish 久米康隆 (Kume Yasutaka) were still with K8. He's my favorite K8 composer. He and TAKESHI. I don't know in what other capacity he supported K8. But he hasn't been making K8 music for a while now :(
That Piano Man was perfect. Great choice by Subaru and the band is impeccable, as you say.
It's what's supposed to happen, seeing that they're professionals and they've toured so many times, and they're actually in the middle of a concert tour (Subaru's solo con). Still, reading first-hand account of how good and professional they were really is a delight. Thank you!
