So when Cheshire and Albrecht arrived at Donne's Stable, I had no idea what I was going to do. They needed supplies, and I didn't just want to skip to their arrival in Bath. I submitted to fewer agents on my first manuscript. Its genre was harder to define, and I was trying to find someone that could accommodate the various genres I had in my queue. This time, I've written a straight fantasy and it's been easier to gauge agents that would be appropriate for it. So I've queried a lot of people (twice the number I did last time). And strangely, I'm finding it harder to stay optimistic because of it. Statistically, querying more agents increases the chance that one of them will like it and ask for a partial.

So the fact that the rejections are just as plentiful is disheartening. You're working against the statistics, people!!!

Of course, there are variables that make each query different, but still... COME ON!
