My favourite traveling bag is a rolling bag. The lid can be zipped to expand the size of the bag about 25-30%. I've also borrowed a rolling bag my sister owns, which you pack like a backpack but still you can carry like a suit case.

Scotland?! Awesome. My favorite travel bag is a part of my first real luggage set (Sonoma). I got it at Kohl's about nine years ago, before going on my first overseas trip. It's just your typical wheeled bag, just small enough to be a carry-on. It's pretty sturdy though, having survived Booklyn's uneven brick walks too many times to count. The fabric's wearing thin around the corners, but it's a nice olive green that makes it stick out on the luggage carousel.
