(Sorry to the one person who already responded... I had to edit the poll.)

Please take a moment to fill out the poll to help decide how this community can best serve its members. This poll and any discussion in the comments will remain open for one week, until 22 June 2014.

In order to 'elaborate' on your 'other' answers, you need something to magically pop open so that we can do so. However, in the meantime...

What changes, if any, would you like to see in this community? (More than one answer possible)

In the Klaine community, there was a weekly rec post. When the show was slightly more popular, that used to get numerous postings from community members. (Of course, since I haven't been a Sherlock community member for long, perhaps there already IS a weekly rec post and I just don't know about it...)

This comm was created as a slash (male pairings) community. Do you think that should change?I gave a ridiculous response wherein I said BOTH that I'd prefer it to remain a slash community AND other: the other was/is basically that who am I to say what pairings people in the community should read? That is to say, while I honestly DO prefer the slash fics, other people may not and since I'm not personally writing fics of my own & simply enjoying the output of others, it doesn't seem right for me to ( ... )

Sorry about not having a separate box for filling out 'other' responses. Comments are okay for that though, I think? It's not possible to edit polls and I don't want to delete it and re-do it again...

There are not currently any weekly posts made in this comm, although I know that other Sherlock comms do weekly rec posts. If the members would find that useful to have here, that's great.

Thanks for taking the time to respond.

You're much too nice to be a mod.

Never apologize (I'm pretty sure that's a rule that all mods follow...)

Having just come back to reply to your reply, I see that there are a total of 3 (yes, THREE) 'other' responses, spread over ALL of your poll. I don't think it matters whether or not there's a separate response box for the 'other' b'c I'm, personally, responsible for 2 of the 3 'other' responses.

You're quite sweet!

As I don't post anything I thought I would leave a few comments instead.
I like that this is slash, there are so many other communities for Sherlock that caters for all the other things, so it is nice to have one exclusively for slash, that being said I think broadening it out to other pairings wouldn't be a bad thing.
I have to admit that I can barely remember what this comm was about, so don't feel competent to answer the first two questions.

Thanks for taking it on!

I don't think we need to become a carbon copy of sherlockbbc being that I don't need duplicate posts on my feed. Is there anything on there they generally discourage that maybe this one could take up? Maybe some discussions and news postings on things pertaining to the cast/crew of Sherlock, other projects Benedict Cumberbatch, Martin Freeman, et al. are working on, memes (which could become a slippery slope so tread carefully), metas, recs posts? Everyone loves recs so that would be fun. Just some ideas.

Yes, that's exactly why I was hoping to get some fresh blood on board and some new ideas of what a Sherlock comm can be. The one big difference between this comm and sherlockbbc that I see aside from the supposed slash focus here (although that's kind of gotten lost over the years) is that they don't allow random posts for fic searches. You have to wait for the weekly post. They do offer a platform for news, discussions, and information on other projects that the actors and crew are doing in the Friday Free-For-All post, but it's not used that much. Which leads me to wonder whether there is much need/interest in that kind of thing in the fandom in general either. But maybe if it were a more regular thing here and the mods were actively seeking out news items and posting them, that would help. It's definitely something to take on board.

Yeah, this is what I was going to say. I used to have a hard time telling which comm was which because of the similar name and since I wrote slash, my fics would fit both places.

I would love some sort of discussions...weekly topics perhaps?...that users could submit via private comments that a mod or mods can select for the comm.

I don't feel very fannish when the show is not on the air, so I want to have some unique things to talk about here :)

I like the idea of weekly topics but I feel like the problem with them is the lack of use I see from the other places. Then again the problem with not using them is that people might not think to post on the comm or might be unsure if something is appropriate. Gotta figure something out with that I guess.

I accidentally submitted a sort-of-het story here a while back, getting it confused with sherlockbbc, just FTR.

I'm not personally invested in being a member of either an exclusively m/m slash comm, since slash dominates most fic comms anyway, or another comm dedicated to fic announcements, but if it stays that way it's cool with me. I do like the open search requests. Other ways to usefully distinguish the comm might be weekly themed challenges, discussions, etc.

Yeah, no one was checking whether story content adhered to the comm guidelines, so I think there's been quite a few het and gen things posted.

My favourite thing to drop by for are the Sunday recs. So as long as they're there... It's all fine :-)

The Sunday Recs post is on the other comm, sherlockbbc. We could do a weekly recs post here too, but in that case probably not on Sunday so as not to directly compete. And our_bbcsherlock does their recs post on Thursdays, so I'd rather not do it then either.
