Some translation notes:[Spoiler (click to open)]
- Knight's Tour, like I mentioned in episode 4, is a version of chess.
- The N-system is a real thing in Japan, used for tracking vehicles throughout the country, however there's not much information on it since it's a very secretive thing in the police force.
- Kazama says Ryu calls himself "中国の雑技団の五軍出身", however the 五軍 was quite hard to translate. As far as I know, it means something like the "outsider" or "loser" group when in reference to schools, so I can only assume it's the same kind of idea here. If anyone knows any other meaning, please do let me know.
- You can read a summary of Frankenstein here, but let's just say it didn't go well for Dr Frankenstein or his monster in the end.
- Referring to your subordinates with "kun" is normal in workplaces, regardless of their gender.
- The "seven samurai" is also a well-known old Japanese film.
Episode 9 - "The Battle of Goddesses" Synopsis:[Spoiler (click to open)]
The Kan Research Institute, aka Kan Lab, is finally proved to be the great mastermind behind everything! The person in charge is university student Yotsuba Tomomi (Hashimoto Kanna), who Anna had once believed to be a close friend. Tomomi's real name is "Kan Tomomi", and she is the daughter of Kan Lab's founder, Kan Youko!
Heartbroken Anna fails to realise Tomomi’s real self before it’s too late, and is taken captive by Kan Lab, who takes samples of every one of her cells and her blood. And being held captive in the room beside her is none other than her now-haggard father, Hajime! Although she had searched far and wide for her father, after learning the whole truth, Anna struggles to believe in Hajime's love for her, and is unable to be joyful at their reunion. And watching these two is the completely changed, heartless Tomomi… What is her true objective!?
Meanwhile, at the Nemesis Detective Agency, Kazama has attempted to bring together the “Eight Samurai” - instead of the “Seven Samurai” - in order to rescue Anna! The dangerous detective pair Taka&Yuji (Katsuji Ryo&Nakamura Aoi); the speed maniac who’s actually a skilled doctor Uehara Kiiko (Oshima Yuko); the solitary toolmaker Hoshi Kensho (Ueda Tatsuya); the genius A.I. developer Himekawa Joui (Okudaira Daiken); the man who says he comes from a nerd's Chinese acrobatics troupe, Ryu Yoichi (Kato Ryo); the beautiful confidence-man Himura Akira (Minamino Yoko); and the journalist who lost her sister in “the accident 19 years prior,” Kanda Nagisa (Maki Yoko) have all come together to help Anna! The “Team Nemesis” puts their life on the line to fight against Kan Lab!
