Chapter 6: Aoidē, The last outpost before the Far Reaches
…Last week a private Proclus Enterprises airship suffered from a deadly malfunction, resulting in a fiery explosion off the coast of India. Both passengers on the ship were killed, and all that was left were a few scattered remains.
The CEO of Proclus Enterprises, Hisoka Saito, issued this statement today: 'The solar system has lost two of its finest Blade Runners, and all of Proclus mourns the loss deeply. Thorough investigations of the exact nature of the accident will be conducted to ensure that a tragedy like this never takes place again.'
And in other news today…
"Do you think it worked?"
Eames turned away from the news display, and reached out to push back the long, curling hair from Arthur's eyes. The prosthetic felt strange, the robotics of his fingers still clumsy and foreign. "I don't know."
"I'm still not used to you bald," Arthur said, and his faint smile changed into a barely perceptible wince.
"What?" Eames asked.
"Nerve ending misfire." Arthur made a fist with his right hand and then uncurled his fingers one by one. "It'll pass."
Eames glanced over Arthur's shoulder where two women in wearing uniforms emblazoned with the Blade Runner badge were walking on the opposite side of the street. "We should go."
Arthur took Eames' hand and squeezed. "Our ship's almost here."
"I know," Eames said, and let Arthur lead him away from the storefront into the crowd, the teeming and anonymous sea of people.
