A totally brilliant idea

A new friend recently told me two great things:

1) Junee's, the popular Brooklyn fashion depot with locations in Flatbush and Boro Park, is now up and running online!  They are offering $7 flat-rate shipping-- that's just a few dollars more than the cost of a MetroCard to Brooklyn and back-- so worth it.

I'm going to order this dress next time I need ( Read more... )

Junee's has been online for almost a year now! I dislike a lot of their stuff because you have to add stuff over or under it to make it tznius. If I wanted to do that, I'd go to the mall and pay a fraction of the price! It would be nice to see pieces that are actually tznius without needing alteration.

Luckily the layered look is "in" right now, which makes it easy to shop at regular stores. I'm currently doing a tube top-style dress with a bodysuit underneath.

While they are overpriced, overpriced is a common phenomenon in frum shopping of *all* stripes. I don't mind paying more if I'm shopping in-store--I view it as a "convenience fee" for knowing that the skirts are all going to be long enough and most will be slit-free.

I like the crop-shell concept. I'm still sitting on the fence when it comes to these, though, b/c one thing I use my shells for is to ensure "back coverage" if my shirt rides up in back (i.e. my back does not get exposed). To that end, I usually buy Old Navy t-shirts in "tall" for a few extra inches on the bottom. But these shells would be great for taking more "formal" dresses and giving them a more "formal" fabric underneath... I think I'll wait to see if I find a dress that I want to purchase, and then if I do purchase it buy the shell to match.

Batya -- I read that as "currently doing a tube top-style dress with a bathingsuit underneath." :)
