Hi there everyone (or no one)! ^-^ It's about time I posted an entry. Thought I might as well start with an entry about Mermaids. Mermaids, afterall are basically the most constant thing in my life. I don't remember a time when I wasn't obsessed with them. I was born the same year that The Little Mermaid movie came out so I blame my obsession on my mom seeing it in the theater. Maybe that was the first time my brain could make sense of anything and I got mermaid stuck in my brain. XD
The mermaids I'm talking about in this post are called Merwees! Any of them in any condition are on my want list so let me know if you've got some! These little mermaids are about 3 inches in height. The idea behind them is that they are human (and apparently wearing really tight pants) until you put them in warm water and they change into mermaids! They were sold in various clam shell playsets that suctioned to the side of your bathtub and one bigger playset of a rainbow waterfall. I had 3 of them. The first one I ever had was this one:
The picture obviously isn't mine. I found it somewhere on the internet. It clearly belongs to PEPPERMINT DOLLY. Thank you stranger, wherever you may be.
I don't actually remember the merwee even after seeing this picture so maybe this one isn't the one that actually belongs to this particular playset, or maybe I've just forgotten her completely. I do distinctly remember everything else in the photo. Her catfish friend is also a brush (I think)! I remember especially loving her vanity at the bottom. Her tail/legs could slide under there so she could sit at it. What you can't see in the image (because the merwee is in the way) is a tiny phone for her to use. ^-^
The second playset I got was wedding themed. The wedding playset is pictured on the left here:

Ghost of the Doll (which I highly recommend if you are trying to identify a doll or toy you had when you were younger. I'm on the forum like it's my second home.)
The only evidence I have of my childhood Merwees is the bride from this set. Here she is in all her human form glory:
Why she wore pink stretch pants to her wedding is beyond me. Here she is in her mer-form:
And what is wedding without a groom?

zap18. zappy didn't notice his tail was on backwards. XD But that's ok. I remember that his tail disconnected really easily. You can see he was a little less extravagant and posable than the girl merwees but he is sweet enough to hold the bouquet for her. Or maybe he's the bride and we just don't know it. hmm.. I wonder if male merwees are still called merwees. I imagine so.
And the last Merwees playset I had was the big playset of the line THE RAINBOW WATERFALL!!! oooooOOOOooh. aaah!
If you didn't notice it in the ad picture scroll back up and look. Here is
zap18's image of it!
It's amazing, right? It also came with the coolest merwee. She has rainbow streaks in her hair!!
On the left is her in human form and on the right is her in merwee form. The left picture is from
zap18 and the one on the right came from
Ghost of the Doll.

Basically I'm obsessed with these. Got some for sale? I'll buy! Got some to keep yourself? I'd love to see pictures! Are memories all that's left of your Merwees? Tell me your story!
