The Flip Side: Workout

For the most part, everyone thinks it’s funny. Ok fine, it has its merits. Yes, there are things that women typically do in the gym, and there are things that men typically do in the gym. Stereotypes sufficiently played there, bravo.

I will say my gym is a little different, basically every time you go in your have a trainer. There is a workout on the wall that we have to do, not 2 work outs one for men and one for women it's one workout that everyone does and your score/time is posted below it along with everyone elses. So I have never had gender issues at my gym sometimes I am reminded that I may pay more for where I go but it is completely worth it.

you're doing crossfit, correct? yeah, totally different environment there.
my gym is full of huge bald dudes with biceps as big as my thigh. heh.

but there, i am sure, are plenty of people that are viewing the actions of the women in this video and seeing them as totally ridic, and that's incredibly unfortunate.

Gender essentialism isn't funny, it's just sexism in another guise.

I'm lucky... don't know if it's because I go to Planet Fitness but there's very little of that crap. It's still mostly men on the weights, but I see a fair mix of genders at all stations, and very little obnoxiousness.

Gender stereotype humor tends to be stupid. It is very easy to do. I think these things are related; it's hack humor writing.

it would be interesting to see if planet fitness atmospheres vary by region. i am trying to get D out of planet fitness here because i dont think its the right environment for him.

True, my experience is entirely anecdotal, since I have very little experience with gyms outside my one local Planet Fitness.
