and by morning we'll be free

Last Tuesday I decided, as a result of this entry from Zoetica Ebb's blog, to follow some semblance of a morning ritual. Maybe I'll add or subtract steps as I go about it, but for now I'm pretty much sticking to hers. Hopefully if I get into this habit now, by the time school + future employment (fingers crossed!) rolls around, I'll be less of a ( Read more... )

I like this morning routine idea....I always mean to do more exercise in the morning, but I just end up not. :D

I've been waking up a little earlier for a better breakfast...maybe I can add meditation and a quick workout...

Also, carbs are yummy. Don't deny yourself them too much, you'll go crazy and gorge. I just have half a bagel and egg (and delicious, delicious tea) for breakfast and I'm set until lunch. :D

io9 has happy things to say about meditation! I think it's definitely worth the extra time, especially if, like me, you spend every other waking moment trying to follow half a dozen trains of thought.

No way am I trying to kick carbs for good! I love my breads way too much. Just trying to diversify brekkers.

Also, what are your favorite teas? I should branch out--I've been buying the same exact kind my whole time in Korea (red ginseng honey ginger) ._.

Eggs are awesome! Also, if you start to find yogurt isn't enough to get you through lunch, try putting stuff in - fresh or dried fruit, uncooked oatmeal, granola, etc. A half-cup of oatmeal with fruit in it is also an awesome idea. Bananas are good and filling, and carbs are totally fine as long as they're whole grain. I am the QUEEN of small but filling breakfasts. :D

BANANAS, I should get some. I haven't had any since I tried freezing a bunch over the summer and my refrigerator broke down :[ Yeah, I'm only trying to skip out on carbs for breakfast on the theory that they make me feel more sluggish.

Also, icon loff! X3

As a child, I practiced a number of different forms of meditation (I was a very strange child, but weren't we all?) Most of them were more or less mindfulness zazen variants and difficult to really practice as an 8-year-old whose mind was prone to wandering, but the one that I really got the hang of (and ultimately gave me excellent practice for later meditation) is called (some variant on) Candle or flame meditation ( ... )

Alas, I'm afraid of fire. I've tried visualizing a flame, but it hasn't done much good. I'ma try using my LED tea candle and see if that's any better XD The breathing thing worked really well when I was getting tattooed (my artist checked several times to see if I'd fallen asleep), so I'll definitely give that a go. I've tried "om mani padme hum" before, but I keep getting distracted worried about pronunciation e_e;

Wut, Christian got plastic beads? Burn. Mine are glass :3 I'd forgotten all about them, actually.

Sweeeet, cheers for the tips! ^.^
