There's this raging debate going on at the AP forums, about why Usopp is a terrible character. It's really upsetting. The chief argument seems to be that Usopp didn't 'develop' as a character in the Enies Lobby arc. If Usopp ended this story as a god among men, I would flip out. I think most people would.

That's a matter of perception, really. Usopp-sama is a god among men. And no, he doesn't have to back that claim up, because he's currently suffering from a recurring case of his 'can't-prove-shit-to-the-disbelievers-because-they-don't-want-to-listen-to-reason' disease.

A lot of people complain that Usopp, as the series' underdog, should follow the path of an underdog, in conjunction with all other shonen manga

What annoys me is that in fandom neither Usopp or chopper are treated according to how they behave in the show, or according to their abilities. Chopper is trated like the cute one (tm), and usopp as the underdog/stupid sidekick (tm). Which is seriously annoying seeing as these two character are so (diegetically speaking) realistically made, and how they try so hard to succeed. It bugs me

and the whole thing was pretty well written
