I feel like I've slipped into a mirror universe

I had a quick look at twitter and ( Read more... )

Is the readership of this comic mostly female or male or split? Because I have noticed that, sometimes, when female audiences get accustomed to a main female character without a romantic entanglement of any kind, they get testy when romance happens, period. They get it into their heads that having a boyfriend takes away from the strength of the Single Female Character. Or they want the story to go a certain way and feel offended when it doesn't.

Hmmm, yeah that's a fair point and one I hadn't considered.

I guess since the story has so far been mostly about female characters solving mysteries and bonding, the last thing people will want is for suddenly a boyfriend to take over and the girls to just be reduced to love interests.

I mean given that the boy in question has only been used as a damsel in distress so far, I don't think there's that much cause to worry but that does make a lot more sense than "ewww, straight people" which is what I thought I was reading.
