Sometimes, I really miss being a cop. Every day was a little different, but you still always had a routine and something to do, and even if it was just doing paperwork, you'd never complain about needing something to work on. I don't believe I could ever see myself being something else. Unless it was along with being a police officer.

Routine was never really part of my division. ...And going back, I can tell you from experience, doesn't really work out.

As long as you've got something consistent to do, I'd call that routine.

Nine months and five days. So, yeah, a while sounds right.
