we had a speaker in my class a couple of weeks ago, an indigenous film maker named rebeka tabobondung. she wrote, directed and produced a film called "the original summit: journey to the sacred uprising" which was about globalization and indigenous struggle. i believe she also started or helped to start the imagiNATIVE film festival in toronto. she has been doing a lot of research on the indigenous history of toronto. interesting stuff!
