So in case you guys missed what was meant to be my Halloween BatCat treat (
apparently LJ changed the comm's settings without notifying the mods), here it is again since the following story takes place after this event:
Scans Week Day 4 Since we missed at least three days worth of scans due to LJ--once again--changing the comm's settings without the mods' knowledge, I will continue posting until we reach "Day 7" (which should fall on a Saturday) and then I'll do another poll to see if people want to continue seeing posts once a week. :)
So onto the main point of our post: now that we saw our favourite pair marry, we now get to introduce that very special someone I mentioned in the last post whom we haven't seen since 1986 (...errr 2008 if we count the JSA Annual story), and one that's been hinted by the PTB to be returning (possibly posing as Helena Bertinelli, that's my guess) in DCnU. I am of course talking about the original Huntress from Earth-2, Helena Wayne! :)
To quote Dinah Laurel Lance (Black Canary II) from an issue of Birds of Prey:
"This story is about me and my mama!"
From the pages of DC Super Stars #17 (Also reprinted in The Huntress: Darknight Daughter TPB), I bring you...
Selina answers the phone and turns out to be one of her former henchmen from her Catwoman days, Silky Cernak. Selina only agrees to meet with him so that he'd leave her family alone, but gets blackmailed by Silky into breaking into the Gotham Civic Centre by using a doctored photo of her killing a cop (who didn't actually die) to show her family if she refused. She agrees, but once again, only to protect her family. Nevertheless, Silky does not keep the break-in a secret since Commissioner Gordon and Batman got tipped on the break in.
At Selina's funeral, Bruce is seen grieving the loss of his wife to the point where he's not even motivated to capture Silky for killing her. Helena on the other hand looks angry as hell.
Helena investigates where Silky is going to make his next move, and once she locates him, naturally, she attacks!
The scene where Helena pummels the hell out of Silky Cernak would've been a lot more satisfying if
she had given him a good stomping for good measure. I mean, if he was going to brag about getting away with Selina's death, she could've made him remember it by making sure he didn't go to jail with all his teeth, right? XP
