Lantau Island is where my grandparents lived. I heard they built a tram to the Buddhist temple on top of the mountain. We may try to do there during one of the days.
*A*)/ it is not actually a 'tram' in the traditional sense of the term, but a cable car type thing. they call it the SkyRail. It goes up really f-ing high, the view is amazing, although it would be more amazing with less smog. it really depends on the day you go. oh and it has no heating, so if you're going on a chilly day, you may want to bring a blazer or something.
on Lantau Island, hk authorities are strongly promoting visiting the little fishing village, Tai O, that's an hour's bus ride in from the Buddha area. I have a friend who went and she said it had amazing atmosphere and photo ops. i wish i could have gone, but we arrived too late; we would have wasted the round-trip fare on the SkyRail if we'd gone.
AH, thanks for the advice, will bring warm cloth. We need them for Japan fir sure anyway. But surely HK is nothing like the New England cut to the bone chill? :-) I remember I invited my friend to spend a few days over one of the Winter break at Tufts and he grew up in New York. Of course that's the year we had some major snowfall in New England he couldn't believe how cold it was!
My grandparents lived in the Silver Mine Bay, on the eastern side. Sadly, I am sure everything is gone now (not sure if you read that post, but apparently the slight step up from slumming government project that I grew up, the whole area, including the elementary school, was razed - gone. no more T_T
Loving your HK shots, most particular the urban section of bulletin boards. Not sure what you're complaining about your top not matching jeans. What *doesn't* match jeans? Thought they were universal ;)
And omg, that Liar video rules. Ingenius to use the liar detector like that. <3. Now my find Taking Back Sunday songs :)
