I got to dungeon level 4 or 5 (don't recall exactly), experience level 5! I got killed by a water demon while trying to get Excalibur while dipping in a fountain.

Even though I died, I'm excited that I got so far.

dipping is deadly, as is drinking, I learned that the hard way. Even KICKING is a little risky.

I really wanted Excalibur! And the spoiler said experience level 5 or higher, 1/6 chance of getting Excalibur. I guess that is really too risky, even for a Dwarven Valkyrie.

Quaffing I've had good luck with, except for the pools, but those haven't bothered me so much (I haven't died from a pool). The See Invisibility intrinsic is worth the risk, I think.

ah, didn't say quaffing, said drinking, as in from pools

a small chance for a wish vs almost certain death from an angry water elemental or a LOT of snakes

I'll sometimes replay the first floor a few times sipping fountains for wishes and killing off, when I'm very bored...

Tend to alternate between +3 fooproof boots of speed and the reflective dragonscale armor
