Best. Phone Plan. Ever.

So my data plan was up to be killed, and seeing as I never used it, I was glad to get rid of it. I got it because of my wanting a PDA to help me with my scheduling and not wanting two devices with me all the time. It's been exactly one year into the contract, so I called to kill it. I spoke to some people at Telus, and they analyzed my calling ( Read more... )

Sorry to burst your bubble, but it's not that great.
My own plan with bell (not available to the public either) is $30 for 200 minutes, with 3 way, voice mail, call waiting, caller ID, 911, that stupid connection fee, unlimited from 6 on... And if I wanted unlimited data/msn/mail, that would only cost an additional 10, bringing it to $40...

And that's not the worst of it...
My friend's Fido package is like my Bell package, but at $17, and unlimited from 5.

Meh. Yours is with Bell, which means it could be free and it would still cost too much. And if it's not available to the public, then there you go. This plan is kind of a mash-up of other things that have been offered in the past. I also discovered it's got unlimited texting to boot, but nonetheless, I'd rather pay $10 more than deal with Hell.

As for your friend with Fido... he's with Fido. :)

The reason it works so well for me is I honestly rarely broke 150 minutes. With my five numbers as unlimited anytime, day or night (home, Erin's cell, work, boss' cell and my folks) those numbers are the ones I deal with the most, and take up the lion's share of my bill. Take those out of the equation, and it's basically unlimited at this point. I think that is why the plan is a bit more than yours. That, and it's not with Bell. ;)

IMHO, Telus is basically the same as Bell, without the corporate logo, since they run on CDMA. I dunno why, if you're doing such limited calling, that it'd be worth paying that extra money for features you don't really use... That's why I don't bother with anything but the basic package. At the end of the day, those my 5 plans sound great, but I don't even use enough minutes to go over the contract I currently have, let alone a future contract.

Fido, with its new plans, and piggybacking on Rogers system is probably the company I'd recommend most.

But like you said, your plan was piggybacked, as was mine. I get one free unlimited number, but hardly ever use it anyways... (I actually forgot about it until now)

My calling came up because I'm the manager of a small business that's on the up and up. I have to be a lot more reachable. I wouldn't bring my phone with me anywhere because I was on a REALLY old Fido match-it plan. Given where my life seems to be heading, I really like how easy it will be to communicate.
