Please stop the insanity. If I go to my friends page tomorrow and see ten entries that begin with "Leave your name and..." I will go officially insane.
After spending WAY TOO DAMN LONG responding to all the names left on my journal I TOTALLY agree. Way more than an hour of my life gone... I blame Jesse - she was the first friend of mine to post it.
This is the sort of thing which is blogging's greatest failure. Its like memes 'what kind of German sausage am I?' No one cares!!! Its both typical and disheartening to realize that given a forum to say anything to anyone anywhere the most common entries one finds concern pointless minutiae that no one could possibly give a fuck about.

actually, i find them kind of interesting (especially because it causes you to think about your friends specifically, such as your first memory of them, and can be a laugh. No one is obliged to read them, answer them or post, no matter what number 9 says. Furthermore, everyone's journal is their own. If they want to post meaningless crap, they can. If they want to post long personal rants about their inner feelings they can. If they want to post giant photos of their cat/dog/horse that take up your entire journal, they can. And their friends have the option to scan the first sentence of the post and skip over it. No one should ever feel that they can't post something because it will clog up someone's friend page. That is all.
