Today's Nationals-White Sox game is delayed by 15 minutes because the umpires are caught in traffic!

So traffic is as bad in DC as it can be in Chicago. And both got mass-transit that's nothing to sniff at.

The radio announcers had fun with it. Later during the game they did one of their promos: "Come downtown for this weekend's series with the Braves. Tickets will go fast so get here early...don't be like today's umpires."

There was some conjecture in the Chicago media twitter that the delay was to accomodate a certain well-known Washington DC-area White Sox fan.

Instead it appears that the umpires got directions from Terry Francona.

I can only imagine the crowd's mood after that...
