I never thought I would stick up for the White Sox, but why was it made out to be a big deal when some of their players couldn't make the trip, yet I don't think all the Cards players are present. Pujols, for one is back home, among others. But heaven forbid Podsednik go on his honeymoon!

Players? I thought all the fuss was just with Guillen, which is easy to understand.

Nope. Pods was given a hard time as well. I think there may have been one more player in addition to those two.

This is a baseball community. I'd hope comments stay on-topic.

Barbara's face when Pujols jacked that monster off of Lidge in the 2005 NLCS was priceless.

This begs for a trivia question...

When did this tradition start? Which World Series championship team was the first to meet with a President?

I honestly don't know. But there are plenty of people in this community who know their trivia............

Good question; might want to ask that on the community at large.

Well, apparently they were doing it in 1924. I don't know whether it's been uninterrupted since then or whether that was even the first year it happened, but that's what a quick Google search came up with. Input from anyone with more information is appreciated, of course.
