OMG I wish Czech people would stop using this ´ sign instead of the apostrophe '. Seriously, it drives me nuts. Sure, use it when you type in Czech, words like pórek, líný, mladé or even my name - Bára. But, for the love of God, don´t use it when you´re typing in English. ´Cause it´s just not cool. And it doesn´t save you any time either! I know it ( Read more... )

Ugh, Finnish people do that too... And we don't even use the ´ thing anywhere (except with some foreign based words)! I hate it.

Oh, really? I'm glad we're not the only ones then! :D Also, in that case, I guess it makes more sense for Czech people to use it, as this ´ is used to indicate the length of the vowel, therefore it's used very frequently. But really, don't they realize it looks weird?! Guh.

I know! It doesn't look natural at all!

Would love to learn some Czech, though. It looks quite beautiful, at least when written down. (Also, I have an undying love for Slavic languages... probably because a huge part of my family are Russian immigrants.)

Oh, well, if you ever decide to go through with it, let me know! :D I'm only too eager to help people with Czech :)) And some words are similar to Russian too, I can understand a bit of it, but I could never speak it without learning Russian properly :)

I must admit, I'm guilty of the ´ mistake, too, when I'm typing on a Czech keyboard. But in my case, it's simply that I can't find the "proper" apostrophe on your keyboards, unless I take the time to actively look for it. It's not where my fingers think it is, but ´ is easily find-able :-D Even now, I can't remember where the real apostrophe is on the Czech keyboard layout.

But yeah, I can see what you mean, because it's a bit annoying to look at even my own texts when they're full of that mistake.

Good luck with your fic!

For me, when typing on my Czech keyboard, for the apostrophe you have to press shift and then the 'button' right above enter. But I guess your keyboard might be different :)

Anyways, I really think that lots of the people that do it don't maybe even know it's not the correct thing! Seriously, I guess they think it's the apostrophe and that's the most annoying part. I have problems typing on English keyboard too (that's why I don't do it), so you're excused in this case ;)

And thank you! It took a completely different direction from angst to an attempt of fluff/humour. That probably won't end well... lol

Yeah, really, I'm sure lots of other people would wonder what it means lol But everyone (I know) in Czech seems to do it for some reason.

And the House epi was quite good, some nice H/W/Sam scenes. Nice as in good acting, not plot-wise lol
