((We never really had officially established rooms before (although I think a few attempts were made), so we assumed everyone stayed in the inn or manor (or boat)--all of which are becoming overcrowded, which has been pointed out to us a number of times.
With the fires that were caused by the bandits combined with the fact that Budehuc has been crumbly and a bit on the shabby side (sorry, Cecile and Thomas ;_; ) rapidly becoming overpopulated, the fires have made it necessary to make repairs and expansions.))
It would have been really nice to know about things like this ahead of time. Like, I was not left with the impression after the thread wrapped up that the "fires" and "damage" were inside the castle walls, or anywhere of importance to the residents. If the fires were supposed to be inside the walls, or actually set fire to the inn, the shops, the stables, or any of "our" buildings, we should have been informed of this.
This is a rather major change to the game-scape. I really wish this would have been proposed to the players or given us time to discuss it. I'm sorry, but I'm going to have to hiatus until I can decide whether I'm comfortable with this kind of change being bomb-dropped on us out of nowhere.
((I'm not sure why this is a huge issue--many people, including you, have been calling for more interactions and events, calling to our attention that there needs to be more building space. We aren't starting a huge plot, and we're not doing anything that will dramatically alter the "game scape" at all.
Buildings have come and gone (Taki's bakery, Tai Ho's fighting ring, Pahn's school), but things keep moving. We are just using recent events to our advantage to establish extra smaller buildings and for an opportunity to stimulate more group interactions, not dramatically change anything or drop any sort of bombs, so I'm sorry if you feel that way.))
I understand Cap's point. But let me also see if I can get things straight. I understand the room shifting to be a temporary thing, correct? And more relevant for characters who already don't have an established location in the castle?
For example, Borus is rooming with Percival on the second floor, like in the game. And they are to remain put unless either of them wanted to move. But Alenia, for me at least, has a room somewhere in the manor but no real specific location. So having her displaced temporarily would make more sense and not really be all that problematic.
So in reality, the shifting is more for characters without an established location. Certainly the characters that do, do not have to be obligated to move out.
((Yep! It's definitely temporary, and what you said is entirely correct--I guess I'm just burnt out and not wording things as well as I'd like. It's nothing mandatory for the whole castle and definitely not long term; just an opportunity to shift around characters who don't have a solid place to stay (and a chance for those characters to be put into close quarters with opportunities to interact with people they might not regularly see).
Characters with a canon "spot" in the game won't have to move out (unless they want to and give their rooms to little old ladies). XD))
((I apologize if there has been a lapse in communication; we were hoping to use this event as a way to pull people together and definitely, at the heart of it, provide an interactive way to expand the living quarters and space of Budehuc. (Heck, they have enough space what with all the woodlands!)
There's been some confusion concerning the damage by the fire and the reasons behind the renovation. The work on the new buildings (and renovation on the current buildings) were being planned before the bandit attack, as early as February of last year, so this isn't to fix that. The incident from Sean's plot is just something we're using to give the renovations even more of a reason to follow through with!))
((There have been discussions off and on for over a year and a half about castle renovations, so it's nothing gigantic and new, it's just that the recent events are providing a good time to usher in the expansion, which has been strongly suggested to us multiple times. Funds raised during each festival are usually highlighted as going towards repairs or purchases (like Juan's straw dummies, hehe).
I'm not sure about Kenken and Julie, but I know Lucas has been in chat almost every night and in the afternoons when I'm out on internship, and I've been coming on in the evenings even though don't have as much time as I used to since I get in so late [except my internet was down for 12 hours the other night >< ]--we've had group chats about upcoming events plenty of times in the past, and if you guys are game for it we can work something out so as many people can be involved as possible in pulling together these kinds of events!))
Okay I'm pretty genuinely confused, much like the other people have said. And it's not just this. I really feel like more thought and player input should be put into things like this, and the plots that are set up. Characters can't simply be made to up and do things that the players don't feel they would do, just to push the plot forward...and I kind of feel like that's what people have been made to do. It's why I haven't been active hardly at all, since I'm simply not comfortable with it.
Plus, like I said, I agree with what the others have said so far. Just to come out and say that everyone is moving around, without even understanding when/that the implications and reasoning behind it took place is a little much.
Also, what about characters (like in my case, Kika) who aren't from III, and don't live in the manor, the inn, or the ship out back?
Well, the interesting thing is, there has been player input. We're sorry if it's difficult to get player input from every single player, but many players have pitched in and have agreed to develop this idea, so we figured it would be okay. When it's said that we're "out of touch with the playerbase," it could be admitted that we are out of touch with those that feel we aren't communicating well, but there has been player input involved
( ... )
This is pretty much a restructuring and re-organizing idea and mini-event, definitely not anything permanent, and it'll be fantastic to establish proper rooms and maps and that kind of organization. We'll also have more solid locations to work off, which will be good! I remember always being like "oh god, we're role-playing, where is x character's room, where should this take place!?" And it'll give us more excuses to run into other characters in the morning or at night -- remember Kidd's shenanigans with Eugene at night-time? D'aww! I'm personally looking forward to being able to have little logs where it's like, X character can't sleep and Y character is outside, and they can muse over random stuff.
Looking forward to the events following up, too, especially since my exams will hopefully be finished in time to mingle in with it! ♥ And they should be finished in time for my characters to be like "oh my god what the hell, I don't want to have a room next to this person!"

What?
So like everyone is being kicked out of their rooms for no reason?

Correct me if I'm wrong, of course.

I can see the potential for some amusing interactions. Particularly with characters that do NOT get along. XD
