Quick reference, the BOD of the sca has asked the Grand Council to see what the populace thinks of any kind of 'pay to play' type examples. A second letter revealed that the key question had to do with loyalty to household and kingdom and why the general populace did not feel that same loyalty to the corporation. If only the power of filk could bring about world peace.

Speaking of songs, what are the words to the song you sang us at Canterbury about the No Nay Never Will I Shag The Foreign Fighter? Cuz, the household really liked it.

"Why is there no loyalty to the BOD" is the question I hear--how are SCA folk not loyal to the SCA?

And there's a huge fucking reason why SCA folk aren't loyal to the BOD, and it's because they don't perceive the BOD as giving them any value. The average person is aware of the BOD only when they do something that causes them more work, more trouble, or more expenditure.

There's a feeling that people feel about entities that do that, and it's not loyalty. If I could figure out who the hell my GC rep was, I'd write a letter. :P

Also, the BOD is a faraway entity with no direct conatct with the Majority of scadians..

Kingdoms and Households are made up of friends (and family). That is the reason we play. We do NOT play to support a group of folks (in my case) half a country away, that is not answerable to anyone, or give me any measureable say in what they do.

It's like saying we are loyal Americans & loyal South Carolinains, but we are not Loyal to Congress...

having shadowed the Grand Council list for a couple of years now I can say two things:

1) It is like the EK list or Merry Rose with a more exclusive club
2) Pay to Play seems to be an annual topic with BoD anyway...

But it seems to be jamming the EK list up good...
