I remember hating it at the time. I remember hoping 4e would fix all the stuff I didn't like. It really didn't it just sort of made a new game, but I definitely remember disliking 3.x even though I ran it more than any other game

A good point. One of the reasons I dislike 4e however is that I know to well how to run it.
With 3.5 I could make any game I wanted to because I was really just calling out skills to roll and telling you whether or not you suceeded based on how the number on the dice sounded in my head.
I could call hobgoblins bandits because fuck it, right?
With 4e I know how it works and it frustrates me because it doesn't work the way I want to, but because I know how it works I can't bring myself to fuck with it.
