That is really shocking. But at least it explains why she was that into the infertility storyline (but that CTCB set up the storyline without even talking with her was just cruel)!
And it's horrific that they gave Barney a one night stand child post divorce (not to mention the mother dying so young with 2 young children - because the thought of leaving two motherless kids must haunt her), no wonder poor Cobie cried, what they must have done to force her to act it.
So much respect for that woman though, to think what she was going through during the filming of the first few seasons and she was still wonderful at being Robin, never let it show at all or had an episode off.
But it's nice to finally the know the gender of Cobie's baby (even we still don't know the name).
There has been much talk on Tumblr suggesting that Cobie's son is the mysterious boy that Neil said he's the godfather to because that baby was born at the same time as Cobie's. Don't know if that's at all true, but if it is, he gave that boy's name as Duke.
I didn't know that Cobie's son's Godfather is Neil I wonder if that's true and if it is that's really sweet. I would really like to know the baby boys name though he is adorable.
I already found it horrifying that they would ever in a million years still include in the AUE Barney having a baby with a one-night stand and then suggesting that's the be all and end all of his life after they'd written Robin as infertile and all her struggles with that and made such a point of saying Barney doesn't care at all. He just loves her and wants to be with her and doesn't feel like he's sacrificing anything. To then say, 'Whoops, we were just kidding about that; actually a baby is somehow magically the one and only thing he needs', is so outrageously insulting to all women who are actually dealing with infertility in their real lives. I was already outraged at that when it happened.
But then to now know that Cobie herself was one of those woman, and the fact that her struggles were during the first few seasons of HIMYM guarantees the showrunners had to be well-aware of it simply because they must have been working around her surgical schedules makes it even worse. To go ahead and put that in there anyway shows you

... I guess we just found out two more of the many reasons the failnale is "a lot of things" for her. You know? I've made it a point in the past that despite my display of anger and discontent with Bays and Thomas in my posts along with some slightly over the top rants - I do not wish them any physical harm whatsoever and would never consider causing them any, but with every piece of information that comes out it gets more and more difficult to remain peaceful. Can't put into words how angry those two careless jerks make me.
As much as we all hate the failnale, CB and CT wrote most of the series finale before season 3 so before the cancer sadly struck Cobie. Though of course they should have never stuck with that version.
Oh I know they wrote that before she had her cancer, but once she was diagnosed that never should have come up again. They should have 1000 percent nixed the Barney has an illegitimate baby part of it that makes his life, and they shouldn't even have done Robin's infertility at all if they weren't going to do it properly. Of course both these points hold true regardless, but even more so knowing that their actress has personally gone through this herself and how awful that must be for her to play It.
Just when I thought it wasn't possible to be any angrier at CB/CT about the failanle, here we go. Of course a TV show isn't anywhere near as important as a human being's health, and I am very glad Cobie was able to have two children even after her diagnosis, the lack of decency this speaks of on the part of the showrunners, to go ahead with the storyline of Barney's ultimate need being the biological child Robin couldn't give him infuriates me. I cannot imagine what it must have been like for Cobie to have put all that hard work into her role and then that's her thank you

The 3 people who played the characters that got screwed over the most? Their careers took off after HIMYM, just look at Neil, Cobie and Cristin, where they are now. While C&C? They lost everything. Most of the fans? Gone, driven away. Their reputation in the industry? Destroyed, CBS ended the cooperation. The spin-off that was pretty much a done deal already? Passed on and no one wanted to pick it up. Their writing staff? Scattered in the wind now, hopefully working for people who know what they're doing. Rumour has it their director, Pam, refused to direct the HIMYD pilot, so that bridge burned down as well. They wanted to win an Emmy with the final episode, all they're winning with it is worst ending and most disappointing twist contests of various media outlets. It is quite remarkable that they managed to do all that with only one episode though.
We still have 206 great episodes, lovely fan edits and an alternate DVD ending that tries to fix stuff. Those two clowns are done for.
It really is amazing how much they had going for them, locked down, a guarantee, and they threw it all away with literally 1 episode. To take a decade-long success and throw it all in the trash on at the last second for no reason at all other than CB's enormous ill-placed pride on a self-insert that no one could ever idolize as much as he did

I'm still amazed at how close they were to having a surefire hit, starting in on a brand new series, riding the wave of one of the most innovative sitcoms of our age...and how badly it all went to poop in one forty minute mushroom cloud of a failnale. They had one job. One job

This gives a whole other reason to hate those jerks more no wonder Cobie was a mess when she heard what was going to happen with Robin and with Barney and that storyline with the baby and Robin not being able to conceive Barney's child or anyone's child for that matter. They didn't even really follow up on that storyline because they didn't give a shit about how it will affect the cast especially Cobie. That poor woman and not just the character was put through hell and all they can do is sweep such an important story under the rug for their failnale. This is yet another thing that enrages me, I am never going to forgive or forget that failnale but this gives me more of a reason to hate these jackasses so much so that I will never ever care about what they do ever again

I'm so happy that Cobie is healthy now, it seems odd to think that all these years watching her and laughing with her, she was in such tremendous pain.
