Cobie, meanwhile, is still fielding lots of questions about that How I Met Your Mother ending, and told me how she found out that the [spoiler alert!] mother would die

It's really just painful for her to admit that she was devastated over this. We all were, it was the most heart wrenching thing ever nobody should be put through that.
If she sais such a thing in public, I think she absolutely dislikes the finale.
ETA: If she is right and the AUE was CTCBs plan right from the start, then they did a horrible, as disgusting job throughout the hole show! Especially CT said right from the start on DVD extras and newspaper interviews that the show was not about that Ted would end up with Robin, quite the contrary he said multiple times that the show would be different from other shows at that precise point and that all the stories the show told and the hole continuity would be very important as HIMYM "had to be about something". Even CB mentioned B/R as endgame. I've the bad feeling that they started with the hole mystery about the Mother in the pilot just to get picked up and then did the biggest part of the show just to create ratings as the audience disliked all the plots that could led to the AUE. That would make them the biggest liars in TV history ever!
I truly think it was all a game to them creating a show with an interesting premise TO THEM doesn't make you smart enough to be in the business of entertainment where people actually see what's airing, heard of, read it just goes to show you how little they cared about the characters the creating.
But, you're right they never stated B/R as endgame it was always "they will get married" that's it. They clearly have something wrong with them to create something like this tragic story that made no sense to the plots that were being told through out the series. I don't believe for a second that Cobie was happy about this ending she had a breakdown that's something so big, so much bigger than what's shown on the screen.
Writing a death like that ruined the whole point of the show.
At the reddit interview before the AUE CB wrote that BR would be endgame (as they just filmed the AUE) and in the video commentary of S1 CT said that TR would not be endgame (as the AUE was just written).
It was a recurring problem with CTCB that they tried to do something really clever but overstepped the mark with it. It happened with the ducky tie, the bride mystery, Ted's pining for Robin or the slap episode just to name a few.
Wow, yeah, she's very clearly not okay with the ending. Her comment about "It's great that they got to see their vision through" is an attempt to stay neutral. :(
Clearly she did not like the AUE, that is obvious by her comments. I am so glad she said that, although it sounds neutral, it is her way of saying WTF! She was blindsided with the Mother dying and I bet the same with the B/R divorce. Good for her!
