Vampires Suck

I read Twilight a while back, and wasn't a huge fan. With all this hullabaloo about Breaking Dawn and the Twilight movie coming out, I thought maybe I would give it another try, since everyone seemed to like it so much. Then as I searched the interwebs I found out that I am not the only person who doesn't like it and I don't feel so bad! Luckily ( Read more... )

I can't wait until my Internets start cooperating so I can thumb through your galleries with gusto, but right now I'm simply happy in sighting a Canada goose in the beach gallery....

And I concurred with your Doctor Who statements -- I was greatly pleased with Donna's arc, which made it all the worse to see it undone at season's end. To go through all of that and remain vapid and superficial just seems so...futile. But Rose got her half-human Doctor Luv, so everyone's happy. (And God knows what/who Mickey will end up doing with Torchwood.)

And Laura Roslin is made of win and awesome. Why no Emmy nods for acting in that series just...just baffles me. I know genre acting is frowned upon, but for the love of Cow, she was spellbinding in everything she did. Even -- especially? -- the last episode.

And always good to see you 'round these parts.

That goose is actually the Brant I got all excited about (and then felt bad for later).

I need to rewatch the Doctor Who finale because at the time, I was so worked up over the kissing that the rest of the episode (and the not-entirely-perfect-ness of that situation) didn't really sink in for me. I think in my mind Donna is still traveling and I just pretend that didn't happen or something =P

I can't believe she gets no Emmys either! My favorite two episodes of hers this season were the one where she is talking to the other woman dying of cancer and has the vision/dream of herself on the boat, and the one where she saves Gaius from dying. Normally it bugs me when TV shows try to be like "Look, here is proof of an afterlife!" but when it's Laura Roslin (and I have accepted the presence of Angel Six in Gaius' head for 4 seasons), I am like "Yes ma'am." And then I want to kill Gaius so bad but when she goes to save him, it almost makes me understand/believe in forgiveness. Laura Roslin is changing my freaking life!

Aw, I liked Twilight! New Moon wasn't as good but I still liked it OK, and I plan to read the rest, so I will tell you what I think of the last one when I do (eventually).

I think I am going to end up reading them all so I can experience the crazy for myself. I am a few chapters into New Moon and so far it seems like it is going to be promoting suicide if a boy breaks up with you, yikes...

I think I might be able to stand these books a little more if they weren't pushing the "Edward and Bella are a perfect and admirable relationship" thing. Because they seriously bug me, he is really bossy and she just makes no sense ever.

The last one sounds completely insane so good luck when you get to that one :)

Oh oh how was DC? I hope someone made it to entertain you...

Oh, maybe that's why I like the books--I didn't take it to be pushing the "Edward and Bella are a perfect and admirable relationship" thing at all. I think they're written so as to remind the reader what it was like to be a teenager and to have such overwhelming, semi-irrational emotions, which I think is why so many adults like them--it's kind of fun to remember and also amusing in retrospect. (Or, if you're a teenager, it probably just seems realistic--how many teenagers do you know who aren't at least a little overdramatic?!)

But like I said, I've only read the first two.

DC was way fun, the wedding was absolutely stunning, and after the post-wedding brunch I entertained myself by reading the first half of "Next" in the park. :-)

Yay post!

Cool about Redskins training camp! Yeah, that totally does make you the coolest sister ever.

Parts of the Olympics Opening Ceremony that was broadcasted was CGI though. Stupid Chinese government controlled the media and said all feeds in the entire world had to come from their "China Olympic Broadcasting" station. So that station spliced in CGI to all the other feeds, who had no clue at the time that it was faked.

Have fun in Western MD! Deep Creek Lake is very nice. =)

Turns out it was Rocky Gap Resort/State Park. I knew it wasn't as far as Deep Creek but I couldn't remember the name!

So far all I have heard was faked were the fireworks and the little girl lip-syncing (which is soooo rough!). Normally that wouldn't bug me except for China's record of controlling the media etc. As long as they didn't fake that awesome giant LED screen!

Well, it really bugs me that they forced this feed to ALL stations around the world that wanted to broadcast the opening ceremony. It wasn't a choice to film the real fireworks. And they didn't tell people that it was fake. They was just forcing them to air whatever was given to them. They could've spliced all sorts of malicious frames in there, or maybe it was really the fireworks in some hypnotic pattern to control the world.

I'm for freedom of media.
