For the past several days, I haven't been sleeping as late as I usually do. It's definitely not because I haven't been staying up as late, oh, no; I'm still working several shifts a week at the Bar that go until three or four in the morning, occasionally even later for clean-up and closing. I've been having trouble sleeping lately too. I blame it utterly on the heat. If I can practically swim through the air, I am damn well entitled to sleep whenever I can get it. (If only my mother shared this view.)

No offense to you, my physicist friend. I never achieved the level of physics nerd, but I was a rather monumental mathematics nerd back in the day, and I did take one year of college physics.

Anyway, I was really just complimenting her on the imagery here juxtaposed with a slightly esoteric academic reference.

Love the "relative humidity of jello" line, Debra! Glad you finally made it to the bar despite the grand tour of Manhattan, but I hope you catch up on your sleep soon. You wouldn't want to doze off in the middle of blending a daiquiri. Could get messy.
