Close Encounters of the Second Kind

May 08, 2007 22:39

Monday is another gorgeous day, and I'm walking to midtown to meet Gary for a late lunch at a nice restaurant with outdoor seating, so we can spend some time together and catch each other up on our weekends before I head for my shift at The Bar. Everybody is really starting to dress for the weather, which is wonderful, but awfully distracting - ( Read more... )

Man, sounds like a sucky day. I wonder if all bisexuals have to have that conversation at some point? It's almost word-for-word a conversation I had to have, except I used an example of blue eyed/brown eyed people. :D

Well, at least it wasn't Simone and John.

It's a really interesting point about trust. Try to forgive Gary; it's not easy to rise above the expectations imposed on us by our cultures.

No frigging way. I can't believe you walked in on Maya! That's both hilarious and annoying. I hate it when you feel like someplace is 'yours' to escape to, only to realize that it fulfills that function for all your coworkers too. I'm always worried that when I come up to my shared office there will be someone having sex on one of the desks. I work at a student newspaper and it's happened enough in the past, haha.

That is pretty disappointing about Gary's reaction. You'd think that once you laid it out so plainly and addressed his fears that he'd be sorry for being so accusatory. I think a lot of bisexual or slightly bisexual people experience this stigma of oh my god, you can't control your urges to fuck! Which must be unimaginably frustrating. Someone should do a study.

I super hope he apologizes to you and that you guys get a chance to talk about it in private. Good luck with everything, and of course have fun at the wedding! :)

I guess I should clarify, I meant a study on who cheats more. Ultimately, it's up to the individual. And as you so plainly said, either he trusts you or he doesn't.

As an idea for how to send the shirts without revealing your personal info you might want to look into a P.O. Box. at someplace like a UPS store where they can receive packages for you.
Once you have that you can send your package(s) with that return address, and from "The Barmaid Blog" as the sender.

Some UPS stores, and similar places (but not all) often have a "real street address" thing where they can accept a package sent to your "address"

That may be a local thing here in the DC area though.
If not then she needs a lawyer/ agent type person with an office that can accept for her. (As she seems to) or she can try to find a person/place that will let her co-opt their address for her use.
The skate shop I worked at in Queens many years ago carried the address of the barber shop whose backroom we were in.
